Shina was working on paperwork for research on hollows and how they function. He was thinking of someone to actually bring home a hollow for research and work on it for expirements. When he began to stack up his paperwork, he found the Soul Society newspaper. When he opened to the hollow section, there was a map of the real world that showed areas where hollows have been spotted. He saw that the country Germany had tons of hollows mostly roaming in the city of Munich.
